Finding The Best Webhosting
There are many options available for webhosting and domain registration, but I am going to use Webhosting Pad as example as I personally use them and have found them to be professional, reliable and very competitively priced. I paid $3.96 per month when I signed up but just checked the site and they have a special on for $2.99 per month.
They also offer a free domain name and unlimited bandwidth/disc space.
When you arrive at Webhosting Pad’s home page you will see a signup now button, click here and you will be asked if you wish to use an existing domain or purchase a new one.
Choose new unless you already have one you want to use.
Enter the name of the domain you would like. You may want to spend some time researching this before choosing. Think about your niche and choose something that sounds appropriate. Your really should try at all cost to get a “dot com” domain name, don’t bother with .net, .org
Once you have decided son your name select the plan you want 1, 2 or 3 years and press continue. You will be directed to the checkout where you will enter your details.
Once you have completed the order you will receive a conformation email from Webhosting Pad with your log in details.
Use notepad to enter these details for further reference as you will need these to log in to the control panel.
Save this notepad in a folder called “yourdomainname” or something you will remember.
If you want to choose a different host other than Webhosting Pad make sure you do your research before signing up. Other highly recommended webhost are Host Gator and FatCow
Some points to look at are-
Reliability- Your host needs to be reliable and fast with a guaranteed uptime of at least 99% or higher.
Data Transfer (bandwidth/traffic) – This is the amount of bytes transferred from your site when a visitor views your site. If your host advertises “Unlimited” bandwidth, read the fine print and find out what this really means, are you going to be charged if you go over the allocated amount?
Disc Space- The same goes for “Unlimited” disc space read the fine print. Most website use less than 5MB so keep that in mind when signing up.
Technical Support- Does you host offer live support either online or telephone? Is it 24/7?
SSL secure server or Shopping Cart- Does your host provide these options? If you are going to be selling you will need this option.
FTP, PHP, Perl, SSI, htaccess, SSH, MySQL- You should expect all of these options to be provided.
Email, Autoresponder, Mail Forwarder, POP3- If you have a site you will more than likely want an email address with the same domain, such as support@yourdomain.com.
Your host should provide you with email and forward option to enable your mail to be routed to you. You will also need a reliable Autoresponder, if your host does not provide one you can find reputable services at GetResponse and Aweber.
Multiple Domains and Subdomains- Does your host have this option and if so what is the cost?
Another word of caution is advertisements that promote “free make money websites”. When you read the fine print you will probably find out your hosting will be $10+ a month, which is twice the amount you should be paying. I hope you have found this information useful, if so consider signing up for the wealthy solution’s free tips and resources.
